BrightWorld

Questions parents ask

What is BrightWorld?

BrightWorld is a learning app and game for children aged 2–11. Children learn maths, English (including phonics, reading and spelling), science and reasoning through story missions, 3D worlds and games, following the English National Curriculum from Nursery and Reception (EYFS) to Year 6.

Which ages and school years does BrightWorld cover?

Ages 2 to 11: Nursery, Reception, Key Stage 1 (Years 1–2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6). Each child is placed at their own level with a short, playful check, and the questions adapt as they learn.

Does BrightWorld follow the UK curriculum?

Yes. Activities are mapped to the English National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2 and to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), so children practise what they are learning at school.

How much does BrightWorld cost?

BrightWorld is free to start: the free plan includes the core learning for up to 2 children. BrightWorld Family is £8.99 a month for up to 6 children, with every activity and big project. You can cancel at any time.

Is BrightWorld safe for children?

Yes. There are no adverts, no public profiles and no chat with strangers. Children can only have friends that both families’ grown-ups approve, and they talk using a fixed list of friendly phrases and stickers — there is no free typing. Only a grown-up can buy anything, and parents can see everything their child does.

Are there ads or in-app purchases aimed at children?

No. BrightWorld has no adverts, no loot boxes and no in-game money. Children never see prices. Optional extras can only be bought by a grown-up from the parent area, with their password.

Can parents see their child’s progress?

Yes. The parent area shows what each child has practised and mastered, where they need help, and progress by subject and topic, with weekly updates.

Which devices does BrightWorld work on?

Phones, tablets and computers: iPhone, iPad, Android, Chromebook, Windows and Mac. It runs in the browser and can be installed as an app with its own icon.

Does BrightWorld read aloud for children who can’t read yet?

Yes. Questions and stories can be read aloud in a natural British voice, children can choose their reading voice, and a grown-up can even record their own voice so the app reads in it.

Can BrightWorld help with the Phonics Screening Check and the Multiplication Tables Check?

BrightWorld includes phonics practice for Reception and Year 1 and times tables practice with optional “Beat the clock” timing for Years 2–4, the skills these checks look at.
